About

I am studying Mechanical Engineering at the Izmir Institute of Technology, with a minor in Industrial Design. Between January and June 2025 I took part in the Erasmus exchange programme at Tallinn University of Technology in Estonia, focusing on engineering design and structural analysis. I completed internships at Cevher Jant Sanayi and Türkiye Petrol Rafinerileri (TÜPRAŞ), and in the summer of 2026 I will join ODTÜ-GÜNAM as a research intern working on solar energy systems and thermal energy storage. For my graduation thesis I designed and tested a laboratory-scale latent thermal energy storage system using phase change materials, which was awarded 3rd place in the Heat, Fluid and Energy category of the 12th Haluk Sılay Graduation Projects Competition. I also serve as Vice President of the IZTECH Mechanical Engineering Society. Thermal systems and renewable energy are where my curiosity keeps pulling me — I love figuring out how energy moves through the things we build.

Projects

Latent Solar Thermal Energy Storage: Effect of PCM Domain

Izmir Institute of Technology · Graduation Thesis Project · 2026 Hover for details
  • Designed and tested a laboratory-scale latent thermal energy storage system using phase change materials
  • Investigated the effects of heat-transfer tube position and geometry on melting and solidification performance using temperature measurements from 20 thermocouples
  • Awarded 3rd Place in the Heat, Fluid and Energy category of the 12th Haluk Sılay Graduation Projects Competition

Shell-and-Tube Heat Exchanger Design for a Nuclear Power Plant

Izmir Institute of Technology · 2024 Hover for details
  • Designed a shell-and-tube heat exchanger to transfer 840 MWt of heat from a sodium-cooled fast reactor (SFR) to a steam turbine
  • Reviewed heat exchanger types used in nuclear power plants and selected a shell-and-tube configuration built with 316 stainless steel
  • Compared two tube-arrangement configurations by varying tube diameter and length, and selected the design with the best performance-to-cost balance

CFD Analysis of Flow Characteristics and Pressure Loss in a Globe Valve

Izmir Institute of Technology · 2025 Hover for details
  • Performed a 3D CFD analysis of an industrial globe-type valve under steady-state, incompressible, turbulent flow for six opening ratios
  • Ran mesh independence and residual convergence studies, then evaluated pressure drop, head loss and loss coefficient for each configuration
  • Calculated loss coefficients between 182.6 and 202.6, in agreement with the literature range of 150-300 for globe valves, validating the CFD methodology

Aerodynamic CFD Analysis of a NACA4412 Airfoil

Izmir Institute of Technology · 2025 Hover for details
  • Modeled the NACA4412 airfoil and carried out a mesh independence study with boundary layer refinement
  • Evaluated lift and drag coefficients across a range of angles of attack and Reynolds numbers
  • Investigated stall angle and flow separation behaviour, and analysed the effect of Reynolds number on aerodynamic efficiency

V-Belt Drive Design for a Reciprocating Compressor

Izmir Institute of Technology · 2025 Hover for details
  • Selected an SKF V-belt drive to transmit 34 kW at 2076 rpm to a reciprocating compressor, following the SKF Power Transmission Belt Catalogue procedure
  • Determined a service factor of 1.4 and design power of 47.6 kW, and selected the SPA belt cross-section with 190/375 mm pulley diameters
  • Verified center distance and belt tensioning using the elongation and deflection methods, and selected 4 SPA belts to safely transmit the required power

Chain Drive System Design for a Compressor

Izmir Institute of Technology · 2025 Hover for details
  • Determined sprocket tooth numbers and design power for a chain system transmitting 11 kW at 49 rpm to a driven shaft at 35 rpm (±7% tolerance)
  • Compared single-row (32B-1) and double-row (28B-2) chain alternatives against catalogue power ratings and service factors
  • Calculated chain length and number of links for both configurations and specified the appropriate lubrication method
